Site Update – July 2008
Live from Pakistan
Greetings from Karachi, the commercial capital of Pakistan. I arrived via Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong and will be here all week. Expect an on-location trip report at some point, and some other essays in the meantime.

TRAVEL – I wrote about Beginnings, Getting to Moldova, 48 Hours in Northern Iraq, Running in Warsaw, and Misadventures in Mongolia.

Manifesto
On Tuesday, June 24, I released a free PDF report called A Brief Guide to World Domination. The download for that report and an ongoing conversation with more than 150 comments is available here.
There are now more than 60 reviews and trackbacks to the report from all over the world. An Amazon Kindle version is now available, courtesy of a reader in Thailand. (Thanks, Colin!) Two translations are on their way as well.

Travel
I went on the first half of a crazy trip around the world, visiting several new countries throughout the Baltic region and beyond. Breaking off from Vienna, I took a weekend side trip to Erbil, Kurdistan, also known as Northern Iraq.
On the way back to Seattle, I transited through Asia and used an awards ticket to go to Mongolia for another weekend side trip. In a new first for me, I was evicted from my guesthouse (!), but otherwise had a nice time seeing the Genghis Khan Brewery and other examples of modern Mongolian culture.
Yes, it was truly an action-packed travel month, perhaps my busiest ever, and I’m on the road again. After September, all of this travel will slow down for a while as I get serious about writing my book, but we’re not there yet.
What’s Coming Next
Travel – After a 10-day break in my Seattle home base, I’m back on the road again. This trip has brought me to Pakistan, where I’m staying most of the week, and then on the way home through Hong Kong, I’ll take a weekend side trip to one of the few countries in East Asia I haven’t visited yet.
FAQ – I’ll be creating a Frequently Asked Questions page to better explain more about the site and the World Domination movement. If there’s something you’d like to know, just let me know and I’ll add it to the list.
AONC Redesign – Reese the Amazing Designer, who works on location from Michigan and Malaysia, is working on a redesign for the site. In short, we love some things about the current design but want to change a few other things to better reflect the writing style. Stay tuned for updates and a preview where you can share your thoughts about the redesign.
Essays – The thrice-weekly essays will continue to be posted each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
This month I’ll write about the following topics, among others:

Product Launch
After I get back from Asia, I’m going to launch my first commercial product. It will be an ebook called the Unconventional Guide to Discount Airfare and will include detailed strategies and tactics to help readers interested in travel. I wrote this guide due to the many, many inquiries I get about how I am able to travel so affordably.
If enough people like it, I plan to follow it up with another one, the Unconventional Guide to Earning Money Without a Job.
The goal is to launch the Unconventional Guide to Discount Airfare on or around August 11. By next week, I should know if that date is realistic, and I’ll give you some more information about it then.
(Rest assured that all of the posts and essays on the AONC site will continue to be free; these are just supplementary materials I am making for anyone who is interested.)
